Why did we found TWC??
1 billion women are in menopause and nobody helps – But from today we are here for you!
We started a business selling gummy bears as a dietary supplement.
Then, in 2022, the war came.
So we decided to start all over again.
But before we did that, we had a hypothesis.
We believe that building a menopause platform will be an incredible benefit for women. 1 billion women are in menopause every day, but no one is talking about it and no one is helping.
So in 2023 we will start building: «The Women Circle – Meno Health. Clinical Evidence.»
Our mission, our motivation, is to motivate and support women to lead a self-determined and healthy life. At «The Women Circle» we are breaking a taboo subject – menopause.
THAT IS OUR MISSION, OUR MOVEMENT, OUR STORY.
The knowledge about menopause and its sometimes dramatic effects in society is frightening.
Here are two questions worth thinking about:
- who should know about menopause?
- what impact does the menopause have on the economy?
Most women don’t know what happens when they enter the menopause. And men don’t understand it either. All they know is that women suddenly start behaving strangely.
Women start talking to their closest friends, asking their doctor or searching the internet. They are often confused and frustrated. They get inadequate advice and hear that they shouldn’t complicate themselves at work. At best, the women are not supported. At worst, they are harassed and humiliated.
The menopause is a topic that everyone needs to understand. Women, of course, but also men, especially those in influential corporate positions.
The impact of the menopause on women, and therefore on the economy, is enormous.
- 1 in 1000 women go through the menopause before the age of 30
- 1 in 100 women experience the menopause before the age of 40
- 5 out of 100 women will experience the menopause between the ages of 40-45
- 3 out of 4 women will experience symptoms
- 1 in 4 women will suffer from severe symptoms
This means that
- 10-15% of women stop working during the menopause.
- Another 30% of women will reduce their working hours.
- «Absenteeism» at work will increase (menopause-related sickness absence)
- «Presenteeism» increases (employees come to work even though they have a valid reason for their absence; physical or mental illness due to the menopause).
- «Leaveism» is also on the rise (women take leave, overtime or flexitime to cure their menopause-related illness).
The damage to the economy?
150 billion dollars per year in lost productivity related to menopause (attention problems, malaise, work interruptions, etc.) according to a PWC study from 2022.
The time when the first symptoms of menopause appear often coincides with the time when women are in the prime of their careers, as the average age for the onset of menopause is between 45 and 55. As a result, many female executives «cancer back», resign or leave the company altogether. And this in a labour market that is crying out for more female managers.
Menopause symptoms are a taboo subject that is largely unrecognised or misunderstood by both men and women and ignored by employers.
This problem goes far beyond the workplace and also affects society and medical institutions. In some countries, GPs receive no formal training on menopause, which can lead to misdiagnosis and a lack of support for women with menopausal symptoms.
We want to change this!
