#159: Menopause or Misdiagnosis? When to Get a Second Opinion
Menopause or Misdiagnosis? When to Get a Second Opinion

This is where things can become confusing!
Many symptoms of perimenopause and menopause overlap with other health conditions. As a result, some women are misdiagnosed or have their symptoms misunderstood. If something does not feel quite right, it is worth paying attention.
Why Misdiagnosis Can Happen
Symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, sleep problems, and mood changes are common during menopause.
But these same symptoms can also be linked to thyroid disorders, mental health conditions, or other medical issues.
Without a full picture, it can be easy for symptoms to be attributed to the wrong cause.
Trusting Your Instincts Matters
If your symptoms do not improve with treatment, feel unusual, or do not fully match what you have been told, it is okay to question it.
Seeking a second opinion is not overreacting. It is a way of making sure you are receiving the right care.
Clarity Is Possible
Getting another perspective can help confirm a diagnosis or uncover something that may have been missed.
Keeping track of your symptoms, changes, and concerns can make these conversations more productive.
Most importantly, you deserve to feel comfortable, confident, and connected in your body at every stage of life.
